Dental Implants

Dental Implants in Lebanon, NH

What’s a dental implant?
It’s a titanium screw that replaces one or more missing teeth.

How much will dental implants cost me?
It all depends on how many teeth you are replacing, whether it be one tooth or multiple teeth. Every patient is different, therefore every fee will be different, too.
Am I candidate?
We will help you determine if you are a candidate. Common candidates consist of those who are missing one or more teeth. Essentially, the amount of bone that’s available to work with is the determining factor.

What’s the purpose of dental implants?
Dental implants can replace a missing or extracted tooth, which is a favored alternative to a bridge, because no additional teeth need to be altered in order to replace the new tooth.

What are common implant procedures?
There’s single tooth replacement, multiple teeth replacement, and full arch replacement for your whole mouth.
What does the dental implant procedure include?
The process takes a few months. During your initial consultation, we will first examine your teeth, take X-rays, learn more about your medical history, and take impressions of your teeth and gums. When we’re ready to begin the procedure, we will then surgically install the implant in the opening of the tooth or teeth. The implant will take about 3-6 months to heal, during which your jaw bone will form around the implant. While your implant(s) heals, we will give you a temporary prosthesis so you can eat and speak, until the crown is installed.

What happens after the implant(s) heals?
After the implant has healed, it is time to place an abutment on the implant, which serves as the base for the new tooth. Your smile will look just like it used to, and after a short period of time of getting used to the implant, it will feel just like one of your own teeth.

Of course, every patient is different based on his or her needs (if your jaw has enough bone to hold the implant or not, etc.) and how much work needs to be done. The recovery process can differ depending on what you had done as well. No matter what, the procedure is entirely worth it.

Have Dentures?

Can I get dental implants if I wear dentures?
Yes! If you wear dentures, do you often find yourself having a hard time chewing certain foods? Do they move around a lot while you eat or talk? Are they painful to wear in general? You can be a candidate for dental implants.

What are the benefits of dental implants for those who wear dentures?
Dental implants will provide you with beautiful, natural-looking teeth that will also function like natural teeth. Our implant-supported denture solutions will secure your dentures with surgically-placed dental implants, so that you can eat, speak and live comfortably without the fear of them falling out.
Bone Grafting Procedures

Bone grafting is a surgical procedure used to fix problems with bones or joints. Bone grafting involves transplanting bone tissue and is beneficial in fixing bones that are damaged from trauma, or problem joints. Bone grafting is also used to assist with bone growth around an implanted device, such as a dental implant.

When the situation permits, we will perform socket grafting after your tooth extraction procedure to prevent any issues during the healing process. During a normal healing process after a tooth has been removed, the remaining tooth socket may shrink in width and height. Socket shrinkage affects the shape and size of the bone contour for implants and traditional bridgework. To prevent irregular sockets, we will either fill the hole immediately with an implant or socket graft to eliminate any unfilled cavities you may have after the removal procedure. The open socket may cause drifting or shifting of your remaining teeth, leading to misalignment and jaw issues down the road. Additionally, our grafting and implant techniques will help improve the appearance of your smile and make it feel more healthy and complete.
